Connect TV has been created by a group of leading industry professionals with unparalleled experience in shaping the Connected TV space.

The members of the management team have had key commercial, technical and design roles
in many groundbreaking interactive TV, IPTV, Video on demand and online services,
including BBCi, Wimbledon Interactive, BBC iPlayer, Homechoice, h2g2, FetchTV and
Affinity Television.

The companies they’ve worked with include the BBC, Netgem, BT, C&W, Orange, Apple,
Intel, AT&T Labs, AOL, Hewlett Packard, Schematic, Freeview and Freesat.

 

Jonathan Marshall
Technical Director

Jonathan is a leading technical strategist in the field of interactive TV with 18 years experience of hardware and software innovation in the broadcast and entertainment industries. He has worked with broadcasters and digital TV platform owners all over the world to design and implement broadcast and IPTV playout systems.

Jonathan, working for BBC R&D, led the development of the BBC’s first interactive services on DTT and Digital Satellite TV, including the ground-breaking Wimbledon Interactive service and Digital Text. This work cemented his reputation as one of the key technical strategists in the interactive TV field. He went on to become BBC Interactive TV’s technical liaison for all third party software providers, testing and appraising their products, giving him an unrivalled knowledge of the interactive TV tools market.

 

Phil Walder
Managing Director

Phil has been involved in internet television for many years, having launched an innovative shopping service for WH Smith as early as 2000. Before joining ConnectTV, he was the Chief Operating Officer and a co-founder of Vision IPTV, the owners of FetchTV, the UK’s first hybrid DTT/IPTV service.

Prior to that he ran the UK arm of French technology company Netgem, supplying IPTV technology to clients such as BT, C&W, Orange.

Phil has helped to launch a number of Affinity Television services, targeted at special interest groups, including language groups, sports organisations and membership organisations.

 

Vibeke Hansen
Creative Director

Vibeke is one of the world’s leading visual and user experience designers. She was awarded a D&AD, BAFTA and Emmy for her work as Creative Director on Spooks Interactive, an International Emmy for BBCi and a BAFTA for her work as User Experience Lead across TV and the web on the BBC’s world-beating video-on-demand iPlayer service.

As Head of Design for BBC TV’s Platform division, Vibeke headed up a world-class team specialising in delivering services for TV platforms. Two of her main roles were to ensure coherent navigation across multiple TV platforms and to advise on future platforms.

Following a stint as Creative Director at Schematic London, she spent several years as a consultant for major content, Telecoms, CE manufacturers & Broadcast players advising on creating branded user experiences on emerging platforms. She advises the Freeview and FreeSat consortia on EPG development as well as brand development and implementation for digital platforms.
